"TRULLIS" ORIGINS |

The "Trullis or truddhu" ( originally called by the popular pronunciation and the period goes back to the prehistoric). Through the millennial the structure changed from a simple shelter to a true house. The diffusion of the " Trullis" was possible only in the areas where the grounds were rich of calcareous stones necessary to built the " Trullis". The territories , the grounds are full of these stones and for the cultivation they must be took away. So the stones are heap up and utilized for the building of the " Trullis" or for the wallpen. Originally the "Trullis" was a simple cone-shaped drywall hut . Then they built windows, a cistern under the "Trulli" to pick up and to keep the rain water.
The circular shape became a square shape and they began to build more "trullis" one next to another in order to have a real house. |
